"On Feb. 18, 2004, Val Sharp and her team of students arrived at my house to put their efforts and talents into making the great room in our house work better. This room contains the kitchen, eating area and family room. We have lived in our home for 6 years and despite rearranging the furniture several times it never "worked". When Val suggested that she and her team would like to redesign the great room I was a bit surprised and a bit skeptical. However I really wanted it to work better. Wednesday arrived and I was a bit anxious. While walking home after work on Wednesday, I prepared myself to be calm - that everything would be OK. Well I walked into the house and it was not ok - IT WAS FABULOUS. Val and her team had turned this room into a wonderful looking and functional room. If anyone had ever told me to try arranging the furniture the way she did I wouldn't have done it, but IT IS FABULOUS. It is like having a new home - a bigger home. My friends and family can't believe the difference, especially how much bigger the room seems to be. One specific example - the placement of the gas fireplace in this room always seemed problematic - always in the wrong place. Now it is the focal point of the room and looks great. My husband and I had been thinking of looking for a new house prior to Val working her magic. Now it is like having a new home. Now if I could get Val back to Toronto to do my daughter's room...."
