"We have a large open plan living room with a wood pillar in the middle and other odd features common to an old home. We had given up trying to make the space work and had wished them "good luck" in the morning. When we walked into our home after Val and her students had been there all day, we could hardly believe our eyes. Val and her team transformed our home into a blast of colour, function, brilliant use of space and lots of sensitivity to what was important to us.

Instead of a large, unworkable, cluttered space, we now have in our living room three distinct spaces that interconnect, but provide a toy/play area, a TV area and a conversation area. Most amazing to us, Val rescued all our African art from the depths of the basement, arranged it in areas of interest through the house, and in doing so made our home reflect our past, all the bits and pieces of our life that we were in danger of forgetting. Our home now reflects who we are! We gained new space that we had given up trying to use productively, and when I walked into our master bedroom the first thing I thought was, "we don't need to renovate after all". Our friends and family are amazed at the creative use of space, and everyone says, "I never would have thought of that-it's perfect!!"

I am very grateful that there are people like Val who see space, colour, shape, design, all together-I know I can't, and we feel very lucky to have benefited from her talent, skill and hard work (did I mention they moved a piano?)
